Transform a Life through Adoption
New arrivals are horses who have just been accepted to the program and are being given six or so weeks to begin the adjustment to life after the racetrack.
At Second Call, we never rush the process of getting these wonderful animals ready for their new careers. Our veterinarians evaluate each horse for soundness while our trainer assesses temperament and talent. Horses with injuries are given more time either in New Jersey or Maryland.
Horses without injuries are typically ready to begin training under saddle after eight weeks. This process continues for as long as the horses remain in our care.
At Second Call, we recognize that every horse has unique qualities, abilities, and limits. Our role is to help you see just how amazing our thoroughbreds are!
We also believe strongly that not every horse is right for any human. Our trainer is particularly good at matching adopters to horses, and we have found that this part of the process is really important. We are definitely not a one-size-fits-all program.
When you adopt from Second Call, we provide medical records, training logs, and a 14-day money-back trial period and are always available to answer questions.
Keep an eye on these new horses as they move from the New Arrival category to Adoptable!
You will see that they flourish during their stay with Second Call!
