Pictured here is our sweet fuzzy bear (taken 2/26) check back for updated spring photos! He is shedding out and we expect him to shine soon!
And boy oh boy, this was a pleasant surprise!!
Polish Up suffered a career-ending injury during his last race. Although he would never have a career as a racehorse, luckily for him, his caring owner and trainer decided to do lifesaving surgery. He arrived at Second Call 4 months post operation. His surgery was a success, but his prognosis was guarded.
The plan was to give him a solid 2 years off. Recent x-rays were taken and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome. The screws set perfectly with minimal arthritic changes thus far. Our vet gave Polish Up the green light to start a slow return to work. Torrance, our trainer in Maryland, had been taking baby steps but after his first few rides he was not uncomfortable and showed no signs of lameness at all. As a matter of fact, he seemed absolutely delighted to have a job again.
We are optimistic that he will find his person, one who wants to take it slow and likes to keep all 4 feet on the ground! If that sounds like you, Polish Up could be the guy you “can live happily ever after with!”
